Description: 1321N1 is a human astrocytoma cell line isolated in 1972 as a sub clone of the cell line 1181N1 which in turn was isolated from the parent line U-118 MG (one of a number of cell lines derived from malignant gliomas by J Ponten (Pontén, J., Macintyre, E. H. (1968) PMID: 4313504).1321N1 has been shown to have very similar STR profile data to U-118 MG.

Subculturing Procedure: Split sub-confluent cultures (70-80%) 1:2 to 1:6 i.e. seeding at 2-4×10,000 cells/cm² using 0.25% trypsin or trypsin/EDTA; 5% CO2; 37°C.
