Description: 4-11 is a HeLa cell line stably transfected with two constructs: the human androgen receptor (hAR) expression construct; a firefly luciferase reporter gene under the control of the MMTV promoter. 4-11 can be used to detect androgenic activity of chemicals.

Subculturing Procedure: Split sub-confluent cultures (70-80%) 1:4 to 1:10 i.e. seeding at 2 x 10000 cells/cm² using 0.25% trypsin or trypsin/EDTA; 5% CO2; 37°C.
Release Conditions: Yes – commercial organisations are required to complete the ‘Cell Line Release Authorisation for Research Use in Commercial Organisations’ release conditions form.
