Description
Description: The cell line was spontaneously derived from the porcine thyroid cell line PORTHOS (ECACC catalogue no. 93122323) after withdrawal of thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH). The cells form follicle-like structures, have a high growth rate, a high glucose consumption and are TSH independent for growth. The expression of plasminogen activators has been reported and found to be higher in ATHOS cells compared to PORTHOS cells.
