Description
Description: Derived from pituitary gland of Wistar-Furth rats. The cells secrete growth hormone at a rate of 1µg/ml cell protein/day. Re-inoculation of cloned cells back to Wistar-Furth rats results in a marked increase in body weight and stimulation of linear growth in both intact and hypophysectomized animals independent of rat tumour size.
Also Known As:
Species: Rat
Tissue: pituitary
Growth Properties: Semi-adherent
Morphology: Epithelial
Growth Medium: Ham’s F10 + 2mM Glutamine + 10% Foetal Bovine Serum (FBS).

These cells only semi-attach and may return to suspension during transit. If this has occurred on receipt of the cells pellet cells by centrifugation and reseed into fresh medium.
