Description
Description: Originally derived from a human embryonic lung. Used for primary isolation of enteroviruses and also found to be sensitive to hepatitis virus. The line shows HeLa markers. This cell line was found to be indistinguishable from HeLa by STR PCR DNA profiling. Therefore, the cell line should be considered as derived from HeLa. Ethnicity: Black.

Growth Medium: EMEM (EBSS) + 2mM Glutamine + 1% Non Essential Amino Acids (NEAA) + 10% Foetal Bovine Serum (FBS).
Subculturing Procedure: Split sub-confluent cultures (70-80%) 1:4 to 1:10 i.e. seeding at 1-3×10, 000 cells/cm² using 0.25% trypsin/EDTA; 5% CO2; 37°C. The cells grow in clumps.
