Description

Description: B95a is a derivative of the cell line B95-8 and was adapted to growth in adherence to the substrate surface. The parent line B95-8 was derived from a cotton-top marmoset (Saguinus oedipus). The B-lymphoblastoid cells are transformed with Epstein-Barr virus (EBV). B95a has been reported to be 10,000-fold more sensitive to measles virus present in clinical specimens than Vero cells and are useful host cells for the isolation of measles virus.
